Care Tips

Caring for Your Vanilla Sky Stainless Steel Drinkware:

If you’re wondering how to clean water bottles from Vanilla Sky, you’ve come to the right place! Made with ultra-durable stainless steel, our bottles are built to last. When you bring home your new Vanilla Sky bottle, it’s best to test and clean it before use. But please remember — that beautiful exterior finish on your Vanilla Sky bottle does not do well in the dishwasher.

Insulation Test Instructions:

To test the insulation quality of your Vanilla Sky Bottle, follow these steps:

1. Fill with Boiling Water:

- Carefully fill your bottle with boiling water up to the top.

2. Close the Lid Securely:

- Make sure the lid is tightly closed.

3. Wait 2-3 Minutes:

   - Allow the bottle to sit for 2-3 minutes.

4. Check for Hot Spots:
   - Carefully touch the exterior of the bottle, moving your hand around to check for any hot spots. Note that the area around the lid may become warm, which is normal. The rest of the bottle should remain cool.

Assessment:

- No Hot Spots: If the exterior remains cool, your bottle’s insulation is working correctly.

- Hot Spots: If you feel hot spots on the body of the bottle, this indicates a potential issue with the insulation.

Hand Wash Only:

- Always wash your Vanilla Sky bottle by hand. Avoid using the dishwasher as it can compromise the insulation and the bottle’s exterior finish.
Use Warm, Soapy Water:
- Clean your bottle with warm water and mild dish soap. Refrain from using bleach or any harsh chemicals that could damage your bottle.

Regular Cleaning:

- After each use, clean your bottle to prevent any build-up of bacteria or odors. Ensure you also clean the lid and any removable parts thoroughly.

How to Clean Spots Off Your Vanilla Sky Bottle:

- For extra cleaning power, pour ¼ to ½ cup of distilled vinegar inside the bottle and gently swirl it around. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes to help remove any spots.
- For tougher spots, mix 3 teaspoons of baking soda with a bit of water and scrub thoroughly with a bottle brush. Since your Vanilla Sky bottle is crafted from premium stainless steel, it should not rust. Any stubborn spots can be removed using the above cleaning method.

Bottle Brush:

- For those hard-to-reach areas at the bottom and corners, use a bottle brush. This helps in maintaining the cleanliness of your bottle.

How to Clean Lids & Straws:

- In addition to your reusable water bottles, it's important to clean and sanitize lids and straws daily. Our lids are made from durable, BPA-free, and non-toxic materials, so they can be safely washed in the dishwasher. Simply place them lengthwise on the top rack or stack them with utensils. We also recommend using a gentle, appropriately sized brush to clean your lids and straws, which is included in our set of replacement straw lids.

Thorough Rinsing:

- Make sure to rinse out all soap residues with warm water after washing.
- Leave your bottle and lid to air dry completely before reassembling them. It’s best to store the bottle with the lid off to prevent moisture buildup and odors.
These care tips apply equally to our insulated mugs and kids stainless steel cups, ensuring they stay clean, odor-free, and maintain their superior insulation performance.

Baking Soda for Odor:

- If your bottle develops an odor, fill it with warm water and add a teaspoon of baking soda. Let it sit overnight, then wash it as usual.

Storing Instructions:

- Store with Lid Off:
  - Always store your Vanilla Sky bottle with the lid off to allow proper air circulation and prevent bad smells.
- Keep Dry:
  - Ensure your bottle is completely dry before storing it. Moisture can lead to mold and unpleasant odors.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight:
  - Store your bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain the quality of the insulation and exterior finish.

Important Reminder:

- Do not place your Vanilla Sky bottle in the microwave or freezer; this can cause damage to both your appliances and the bottle.
- Remember, Vanilla Sky bottles are insulated to maintain the temperature of the liquids inside, regardless of the external temperature. These bottles are designed to withstand the elements, so placing your bottle in the freezer will not enhance its ability to keep your beverage cold.
By following these care and testing instructions, you can ensure your Vanilla Sky drinkware stays clean, odor-free, and maintains its superior insulation performance.
